IEC- Intelligent Engine Cooling
Why "Intelligent Engine Cooling"?
Because it is the only system available on the market that allows you to " intelligently "managethe temperature of a coolant via an electronic control unit.
There are no equivalent systems on the market but only on-off solutions, without dynamic temperature management, which are not able to modulate their effectiveness according to the stresses on the cooling system.
What is IEC? It is a patented mechatronic system that guarantees, even in situations of heavy use, absolute control of the temperature management of traditional thermal engines and hybrid engines , by acting on the engine cooling system. In electric vehicles , IEC is used for the correct maintenance of the ideal operating temperature of batteries, inverters and electric motors. How it is made The system consists of:- Mechatronic subsystem which includes ECU and relative wiring-
Electrohydraulic subsystem which includes the electric pump and fittings / pipes to interface with the engine cooling system.
How it works
The system acquires data on the liquid temperature of the engine cooling circuit via CAN-Bus and via an additional sensor included in the electric pump of the IEC system.
The control unit processes the acquired data , determines the cooling state of the engine and, consequently, controls the electro-hydraulic pump, to increase or decrease the flow of the coolant, in order to guarantee the optimum temperature for the engine operation.
In applications where a cooling fan is present , the IEC system is able to interact with it by adjusting its operation according to the temperatures acquired through the two sensors mentioned above.
In vehicles without electronic engine control unit (historic vehicles, 2-stroke, 4-stroke carburettor and vehicles without CAN connection) the Stand-Alone version is used.
PERFORMANCE
The installation of IEC, in series with the existing motor cooling system, allows to increase or decrease the flow rate of the coolant according to the cooling or heating demand of the motor.
START-UP TRANSITION
All ' start-up of the engine in cold climates, IEC reduces the water flow facilitating the achievement of the temperature of operation ideal in a short time.
This allows the engine to be preserved by reducing the effects of thermal shock and immediately improving polluting emissions.
RANGE OF USE AT RUNNING RUNNING
During vehicle use, even in the heaviest thermal load conditions, IEC intervenes autonomously and intelligently by increasing or decreasing the flow rate of the coolant according to the needs of the engine.
The temperature thus remains stable and constant, avoiding overheating and the consequent risk of failures or power drops.
TRANSIENT COOLING
At the shutdown of the engine, IEC continues to operate, by progressively reducing the flow of the cooling liquid, in order to bring gradually the motor at the set end-of-use temperature.
